Mr. Debashis Biswas, PhD scholar from the Department of HEART, working under the supervision of Prof. Jolly Thomas, presented his paper titled ‘Revising Turing’s Functionalist Arguments on Free Will’ at the International Conference on Thought, Perception, and Reality, organised by the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences and Management, Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar, and the Centre for the Foundations of Science and Consciousness, Bhaktivedanta Institute, Bhubaneswar. 

In this paper, he attempts to show how Alan Turing’s arguments on machine intelligence align with the functionalist perspective and how they address contemporary problems of free will and consciousness.
